2008 Fishing

Fishing on the Kenai Peninsula is world class for a reason, variety, abundance and size. The Kenai River is 82 miles long. We Fish it All.  Allow  “Drifters” Lodge to help you make the right decisions and place you in the hands of the some of the  best guides fishing on the rivers.  The Lodge is privileged to have assembled a remarkable group of professional specialized guides fishing on 6 area rivers.  First time fisherman to experts, let Drifters Lodge take care of you. Fishing packages are available.

NOTE:     If you are coming to the Kenai Peninsula to fish for a couple of days you have made the right choice.  Now you have to pick the right company.  You’re in luck, because there are many good fishing companies.  Drifters Lodge strives to be a cut above, hopefully you will think so too.
Fishing on the Kenai Peninsula is world class and probably the best in the world (that you can drive to).  If you have always wanted to catch a fish this is your prime opportunity.
What kind of fish.

The Kenai Peninsula has it all, Trophy Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Arctic Char, Salmon (King, Silver & Red), Steelhead, Grayling and Northern Pike.  Ocean fishing that is unbelievable Halibut, ling cod, sea bass (red & black), shark and the list goes on.
Can they be caught?

Yes, there are normally large amounts of each of the species.  We are very fortunate to live right in the middle of this awesome fishery. Catching them is just like any other fishing hole.  Once you have the knowhow and have the right equipment you have a great chance to do well.  So you have choices; do your homework, buy the right equipment use the right technique and fish in the right place at the right time.  Many good fishermen do very well.  So don’t think it can’t be done, it can, and is, every day.  The other choice; Fishing guides do all this for you and they do it every day for months.  They put you on top of the fish.  If this is the once in a life time trip and if you have one or two days in your trip to go fishing and you want to catch the fish, then going with a guide is probably the best way to do it.   If you want, go out once with a guide pick his brain and then the next day try it on your own.  Our guides here at the lodge love to fish, their whole life is about fishing, it is really unbelievable but it is true.  These guys are still fishing here on the Kenai and I am writing this December 17. 2007.   They eat sleep and breathe fishing.  The choice is yours whatever you decide you will have a great time, enjoy.
