Mountain Biking  &  Trail Info in Alaska

Drifters Lodge, on the banks of the world famous Kenai River, will accommodate you and your party as you explore the bodacious trails of varying difficulty. Ask about group discounts.

Cooper Landing has some of the best mountain biking in the entire world start right here. You will encounter different kinds of wildlife from bear and moose to spruce hens that do not get out of the way as you approach, so always have a bell and be aware of your surroundings.

We have accommodated mountain bikers from Peru, Mexico, Sweden and many states in the lower 48. We are located 100 miles south of Anchorage by car. Pick a new trail each day allowing you to stay at the lodge each night relaxing in the New Swedish Sauna with its picture window overlooking the Kenai River and the Chugach Mountains surrounding Drifters Lodge.

The nightly campfire at rivers edge will allow you to unwind and tell the tales of the day's
adventure to neighbors from near and far. We provide the marshmallows and graham crackers.
Wake up to awesome views from your room in the lodge or the 1st Class Chalets. The barbeque on the lodge deck will allow you to grill your fresh catch of the day or your own personal bbq favorites.

Some of the chalets have kitchenettes most accommodations have microwaves and small refrigerators.
The continental breakfast includes fresh fruits, home baked breads, muffins, cereals and a variety
of juices. This is included with your stay and served in the main lodge overlooking the Kenai River.
Mountain bike rentals are available in the area along with maps and current trail info.
Your hosts will take care of all of your needs so you can enjoy your trip of a lifetime. When you
call we will help you plan the details of your mountain biking trip and even offer fishing guides if
you enjoy that.

Trails surrounding Drifters Lodge include:
Crescent Lake Trail
This is one of the best 1 day rides period. It has an intermediate trail rating and you will
encounter different types of riding thru the forest, streams and then above the tree line to
Crescent Lake where a rowboat is there for your use. Grayling are caught in the lake and float
planes land on it to drop off fisherman. The trail is single track about 7 miles up and a great and
fast 7 miles back.

Russian River Trail
This is possibly one of the best 1 day rides anywhere. There are at least 2 ways to do it but if you
start at the Cooper Lake trail head and finish at Russian lakes trailhead there is less uphill
riding and great down hills. 21 miles good for all skill levels views of salmon, glaciers, rivers
and lakes almost (probably) euphoric for most. Do not miss this one.

Lost Lake Trail
Unbelievable trail this is another one of the best. Couple of ways to do it. Primrose trailhead to
start or end? Intermediate rating 14 miles of awesome single track mountain biking. You will be in
the forest to start either way then go up thru sub alpine meadows then above treeline to Lost Lake.
The ride is awesome across the lake area. You can come back the same way or proceed to Seward.

Skyline Trail
Crazy hard up. Very technical. Straight up and straight down. Great vistas of the flats looking
toward Sterling, Soldotna and Kenai. Trail rating is extreme.

Resurrection Pass Trail
Simply awesome. Advanced but families with kids do it. Every one says start in Hope and end in
Cooper Landing. Some say the best trail in the World. A lot is written about this trail. Heavy usage
for Alaska standards.

Lower Resurrection Trail
This is the least favorite of all the trails available but you can read about it elsewhere.
Let the biking begin.

Enjoy and take care of our unsurpassed beauty as Cooper Landing is called the Gem of The Kenai Peninsula.
