The Russian River
ONLY 6 MILES FROM DRIFTERS LODGE

Fishing Alaska's Russian River
If you've always dreamed of fishing Alaska's rich streams for salmon, you surely won't be disappointed at the confluence of the Russian River and Kenai River. It's some of the best fishing in Alaska. Fish all day and barbecue your salmon that night on the deck at the lodge overlooking the Kenai River.

Fishing for the awesome tasting sockeye (red) salmon at the confluence of the Russian River Kenai River is your opportunity to get up to three of the salmon. We feel there's no better spot than here without a guide. However our guides will take you where you have room to enjoy "THE FISHING OF THE REDS".

The Russian River is a beautiful, clear flowing stream starting at Upper Russian Lake which empties into the Lower Russian Lake and then into the Russian River ending up in the Kenai River in the picture you see to the left.

You can fish from the campground, or take a ferry to the opposite bank to catch the ever fighting red salmon then after your fishing adventure, return to your riverfront accommodations at Drifters Lodge.

You can relax in the new Swedish Sauna with its' large picture window view of the mountains and river.  Then get ready to toast marshmallows (provided) over the nightly campfire at the river’s edge.

Bear Report
2006 was the year of bear sightings at the confluence of the Kenai and Russian Rivers.

The bears were more active than in any of the last 20 years prior and has forced fish and game to close the river for fishing for short periods of time.  This is not normal but has been great bear viewing for the guest at Drifters Lodge.

Each  year there are bear sightings as they fish along with the fisherman but 2006 goes down as the beariest for me.

2007 ok this was pretty awesome in the bear sightings category.

Lots of bears all over so lets see what 2008 brings I am thinking its going to be a great sighting year again.  We will up date this site periodically thru the summer months so check back or give us a call 866-595-5959.
