The Kenai River, Russian River and Kasilof Rivers may give fishermen the best Alaska Salmon and Rainbow Trout fishing, but the fishing in Alaska’s oceans can be equally bountiful!

Beginning in mid-May, Halibut begin to make their way towards shore and fishing remains good throughout the summer. Halibut are an enormous flat fish that on average weigh 15-25 pounds but can get as large as 500 pounds! These giants can be caught on fishing charters just off the Alaskan shore.

The top-side of these beasts is dark brown and the bottom is white, for camouflage. Halibut’s eyes both sit on the top side of their faces, making them one of the most interesting looking Alaskan fish you will come across during your stay at Drifters Lodge. As the saying goes in Alaska, the uglier the fish, the better they taste and Alaskan Halibut are no exception to the rule!

Kenai River Drifters Lodge offers several options with our fishing packages in which we can arrange a Halibut charter with one of our excellent captains. We only use the best Halibut captains on the water, so rest assured; your Alaskan Deep Sea fishing trip will be one to remember. From our premiere fishing guides to the beautiful scenery, Drifters Lodges guarantees that your trip will be the experience of a lifetime.
